Ok so been in manufacturing for about 6 years and I'm still pretty green. I mostly ran Fanuc and haas controls at my previous job. I moved on from my previous job and started a new one about a year ago. When I started the one lonely Okuma lathe just sat off I would ask questions but the guys in the shop would say that thing is "impossible" to run without mastercam and that machine has a "different language" I get it the guys here only know manual guide i they don't know g code and they refuse to use mastercam even tho its available to anyone here. So my curiosity got the best of me and I have been trying to teach myself to run it. I can get most things done on it with mastercam which I taught myself to use as well so im not very good at it. I have hit a hiccup and im trying to figure out how to use an endmill to mill a groove around the OD of a cylindrical part. The program mastercam spit out doesnt work I have attached a screenshot of verify. I also have to mill that slot on the front of the part o and the part is hardened to 56 RC . I have found a programming manual I am going through but I will take any information and I mean any information on running this thing. Dont be too harsh on me tho.

Points to you for giving it a go...

Your mastercam code ... line 24 ... is that an F0. for any feed moves (G1,G2,G3), won't go anywhere if it is.

Mastercam planes are a b$tch to get right, if you look from RIGHT view, the 3 o'clock position is 0° for milling.

... similar goes for turning ...
TOP view.. above centreline for upper turret toolpathing contours.. which is the 0° line
TOP view.. below centre for lower turret paths.

yea its a F.0 but I have tried every number and it still just alarms out. I agree the planes are tough but im trying to work through it. the coding on the okuma is jus so different.

Ya I ended up getting it to work using a different toolpath in mastercam. The tool number and feedrate were wrong in the program above but those werent causing the issue.
