    Lasercut, suggestions for work flow.

    Hello

This may be of interest to all beginners with Lasercut.

The Lasercut 5.1 software should come with drivers/plugins for
    Autocad ( i think its 2002 only )
Coreldraw ( i dont know which version )
which allows you to send laser jobs direct from Autocad/Coreldraw.

IE you get a menu called "laser" in your Autocad program.

Lasercut 5.3 seems to be the current version, but i dont know if it has this ability.

Personally, i dont really use Lasercut to 'draw' anything because its too clumsy. But it is good for preparing the final layout to cut. My workflow generally is to create the work in autocad, and/or Adobe Illustrator. then export to Lasercut using either .dxf (autocad) or .ai (illustrator). Sometimes you need to process the work in BOTH Autocad and Illustrator to make it work! Sometimes you will ALSO need Photoshop or similar if you are doing bitmap work ( there is more than one way to skin a cat )

there are some important issues here ! ( Lasercut5.1 )

Lasercut will NOT read Autocad 'Blocks' - you need to explode them.
Lasercut reads the imported file by COLOUR, not by LAYER.
Lasercut will NOT read text in the Autocad/Illustrator file - you need to convert to outline. Only possible in Illustrator.
Lasercut 5.1 will ONLY read .ai file version 10. UNCOMPRESSED
Lasercut likes earlier versions of .dxf , i generally save as .dxf 2000.
Lasercut has some VERY GOOD features which you will not find in regular Autocad OR Illustrator. Check Overlap, Check Closed (for engraving), and Unite Lines.

All this process took me a while to work out, with some help from the forum, but now it is second nature. and i think honestly that Lasercut is an excellent little tool which does its specific task very well. Dont expect a full-featured CAD program though. it is a laser driver, with some basic cad functions.

If anyone needs some specific help about how to get their Graphics from A to B to C to Laser, dont hesitate to ask, I have a lot of experience with CAD and Graphics software in general.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards

    PS

remember to set your units to mm in Autocad !
and try to draw near origin x,y (0,0)

if you draw near the edges of infinity, or draw with Z coordinates, Lasercut might go crazy.

i can get the graphics from rhino to lasercut but ,if i draw 50 mm it cuts 30 mm.
according to manual i must change the pulse.
after several changes saved it to usb as export config.
machine recognises the usb and config file ,but nothing changes ?
    anybody has an idea ?

ps the laser is from china but works excellent.

Yes this sounds like the pulse settings are incorrect.

Does the 50mm on Rhino appear like 50mm on Lasercut ?
Does the machine make a "beep" when you hit "Download CFG" ?
you are transferring the CFG file by USB cable, i assume ?

if you search the forums there will be more detailed info on pulse settings

I have the right pulses according to the factory settings and also downloaded the configuration files. If I drew a square, 200x200 mm, it makes a 120x120 mm cut and start at the middle of the work table when I put the drawing at the bottom left on the desk. It looks just like the factory settings are completely wrong. I have also tested with the old settings from my broken controller but they will not work either.

I also think the problem should on moving or impulse. 2phase stepper and 3phase stepper use different parameter. you can check MOVE & PULSE for both x and y axis. if before is 24(move) 5000(need pulse), now change to 36(move) 5000(need pulse) and try

in lasercut i check cutlenght and thats also 50mm
the machine beeps ,all other files/shapes works ,of course all cut smaller
i use usb stick to transfer ,with only the config file.
then i use usb again to transfer the cutting file

strange is that in the display is the config file ?
why ? the setting must be in the motion controller ?
    it has leetro mp6515 card

i do something wrong but what ?
    looked on fora/read manual 2x

    USB

    Hmm..

    sounds like it should work!

can i check - you are using a USB memory stick ?
have you tried by the USB cable to the machine?

i have never tried to use the memory stick - always the cable.

have you asked the manufacturer in china? usually they are quite good at answering specific technical questions

beyond that - i cant really suggest any more without seeing in person.

hope you get it sorted !

    kind regards

today i put the pc next to the machine and connect with usb cable.
    nothing...
read the manual again and again maybe i didnt understand some part.
but it seems clear make config ,save on usb stick, put in machine and wait for beep. actuvate/start the config in display and it beeps again.
try to cut file ,nothing changes:drowning::drowning:

the manufacturer in china is very helpfull ,but because of the time difference every trial/solution takes time.

it does cut beautiful ,only not the accurate size.

    what o what am i missing ?

an experiment, and a temporary solution.....

    interesting to try,

if you make a drawing 100% size of table, send to machine - it will laser at 60% size with your current configuration?
if you make a drawing 110% size of table, does it laser at 64% size, OR do you get "soft stop" error ?

temporary ( to get the jobs done ) , is obviously to scale up your drawing by x1.66666... but of course this is not a solution.

    regards

it MUST be the pulse settings!

i dont think you can damage it by trying different values. ( at your own risk! )
just be close to the emergency stop button in case it tries to go past the X,Y limits.

    mine is set to pulse unit = 0.0056250000 in both axes ( 36 / 6400 )
but this will vary for different machines.

that's the question ,whatever value i put in, there is no change in the cutting length !
almost if , the display accept file.but the leetro mp6515 card does not get the info ?

I would imagine there is a "write" function for the card , in my machines , we "read" the card , change the values and then "write" back to the card in the software under vendor settings - are you doing something like that?
