Series I with Heidenhain 155 Won't run program

Hello everybody. I just purchased a series I with a TNC 155 control. I can't get the machine to run any programs. The machine will start up correctly and traverse the x,y,z points. I then enter into run program mode and select a program. I can start the spindle but as soon as the program gets to the first block where it has to move the table the spindle will stop and the program will also stop with the * flashing on the screen. I have read the manuals for a few hours and can't quite get past this point. If I run the program in single block mode it does the same thing. As soon as it gets to a block where an axis moves the the spindle stops and the program stops. Thanks for any help and please have patience with me because I am a newbie.

The oil level looks good. It says in the manual that if it is low on oil that the control won't power up. How could I check to see if it sees the spindle start? Thanks again for any help.

check the spindle drive card or lower spindle speed in the program to 500rpm
my Beaver mill came up with Gross Position error C when the axis started to move. I replaced a resistor on the spindle drive card and that fixed the problem.
I now have a new problem the monitor has gone down. can I use a PC monitor ?

    Hi there,
There are many factors when programing in Heidenhine that will make the machine sit there and not move any where. If you e-mail me your program I will be happy to look over it for you to see if there are any problems with it.

    Regards Peter

The machine is not at my house so next time I go over to it I will write down one of the programs in it. I haven't actually written any programs myself yet. I was just trying to run one of the programs that the previous owner had programed in already. I have tried several different ones with all of the same results though. This machine is new to me. I just purchased it and have not had it successfully running yet. I built a rotary phase converter using a static phase converter and a 15 hp 3 phase motor. I followed all of the diagrams and am pretty sure everything is hooked up correctly but this is the first time I have done it. Are there any parameters that could be causing this problem? It doesn't actually come up with any error messages that I see but the * is flashing on the control screen indicating the program has stopped. If I push the start button again the * will quit flashing for about 15 seconds and then start again. Thanks again for any help. I am getting close to having to pay someone to come look at this though. Does anyone know of someone around the Eleva - Strum, WI area that would be able to service this machine or know the controls well enough to at least tell me if there is something wrong with the mill?

All of the axis move with the joysticks in manual mode. The spindle will start up in manual mode but it is going in reverse. I haven't really tried to run it in manual mode.

If the spindle is running backwards, one might suspect that the 3 phase needs to be swapped around. You need to find out which 2 wires feed the transformer that feeds the control, then make sure the generated leg is not on one of those. and keep it that way after you swap 2 of the three

It has crossed my mind that the first 2 legs of my 3 phase could be switched but I wasn't sure if that would cause the problem I am having. I can switch them around this afternoon if I can get back over to the machine. Is there a way to test the phase wiring with a standard fluke meter? Thanks again.
