The Idea is if you do have solid Works on your computer so that you can setup with SW to launch MC from your file in SW and have the option to bring the history along with it.

do you mean do not have solidworks on the same machine?

i have solidworks on the same machine and i can open solidworks part files and the history comes in to mastercam. if i have solidworks i do not i still need this add on?

i try and open solidworks assemblies and i get warning messages and the history does not come in. is mastercam capable of importing the history for assembly files?
