    Luberth driver board

    Have anyone used this driver described by Luberth?
    http://www.luberth.com/plotter/ditwasplotter.htm
    He uses 3 ULN2803 to drive 2 unipolars and a solenoid.

    I emailed him asking about his design, but have not reached him yet. Maybe someone of you guys know this design?
    He uses 4 LPT pins per stepper.
    I wonder is this driver is only usable with his "Cstep" software or maybe other software like TurboCNC might work with it?

    It will work with any 'wave-drive' software, INCLUDING TurboCNC. BTW, TurboCNC also support the normal Step/Dir mode.

    Thanks abasir.

    Having some unipolar steppers from printers I thought about starting to experiment with something quite easy to build in electronics. I guess that luberth's driver is ok then.

    I built one of those a while back. It worked, but it seemed very limited with what software it could use.

    A lot of programs just use the step/direction commands and this wouldn't do that.

    For about the same amount of money, you can make a different driver board that works with step/direction.

    put it this way, that driver board will work great for any thing that doesnt require much by the way of power consumption. But your going to have an extra X number of steps at every turn when it comes to using that driver board. Only reason is because of the type of driver board. with out step/direction inputs you'll have to convert every thing to gcode to use with turbocnc. Not to mention that driver board doesnt support the high power demand of most stepping motors. And its un protected meaning if you have a break down in your 2803 chip your parallel port could become DOA or your entire computer. I'd offer causion in using that board.

    Layout

    I like his design of board. One thing i wanna change without using any adapters is the centronics connector. Does anyone have a layout design for db25 connector?

    power supply

    I have built a new layout for the luberth circuit. I was curious what would be enough to power the 5 volts. is 1 amp enough
