Howdy again! its been a while and Ive got a new obstacle Im trying to overcome. Im trying to add a rotary axis to my DIY machine, Let me give yall the rundown of what I have and what I am thinking and yall can help me from there.
My 3 axis machine is using g540 / uc100 / mach 3 and currently has the "A" axis slaved to the "Y" stepper for dual lead screws on the Y axis. This obviously uses up all 4 outlets on the G540. I am very happy with the machines current performance and setup and am not looking to overhaul my motion control setup.
I was poking around trying to see if it was going to be possible at all to achieve what I am wanting and someone had recommended to put this....

... in between the uc100 and the g540. This would allow me to tap the pins before it gets to the g540 and I could add a single g250x or g251x driver for the rotary axis. I could then create a profile in mach just for the rotory in mach when I want to use it.
Any ideas?
