How to Stop Pre Loading Tools

We have a 2001 (or 03) Doosan Daewoo DMV 3016 with an umbrella style tool changer.
Every time it does a tool change, to it pre loads the tool carousel to the requested tool then has to go back to the current tool's pocket to put it away. This is really annoying especially if I'm running stuff out of our product line where the tools are not in numerical order.
    Any help would be great.

    Hi,

First of all, are you new to this machine ?
Is it a new issue, did it work correct before, did someone change parameters, did you made changes to the tool-change Macro, NEXT tool call in same tool section ??????
With an umbrella tool changer you always need an empty pocket to "grab" the tool, you can't do a Next tool call like a Vertical changer but I guess you did'nt call for Next tool.
To much questions, can you answer some.

    Regards.

We bought this used from a reseller.
I have no idea what has been done to this before we got it.
I’m well aware that pre loading the tool does nothing in an umbrella type tool changer except waste time. Once it calls a tool change the carousel rotates to the requested tool then has to rotate back to the current tool to put the tool away. It act just like a vertical tool changer. When you call a “t” number it just rotates the carousel.

    Hi ,

We have two Vertical with arm changer and they call first T(xx) and then M6 for tool change, plus after that a T(xx) for Next Tool.
We also have two embrella's which first needs M6 for the changer-Macro and then the T(xx) number for the tool, when we call T first everything messing up.
Let's say tool 10 is in the spindle and you call in MDI; M6 T12, the embrella with empty station 10 should take out Tool 10 and rotates to station 12 and puts that tool (T12) back into the spindle.
Do you have some old nc-programs stored in the Memory of the machine so you can check how to use the tool-change ?

    Regards.

The machine runs fine. It is just really really annoying having to wait for this to rotate to a requested tool first.
Let me try the M6T# and see if that makes any difference.

That made no difference. It still moves to the requested tool, then back to the current tool.

    Hi ,

Just checked YouTube and there's a video with the same strange issue on this model.
He calls T14 M6 at 0:15, visible on program-screen, do the same weird rotation as you described.
Maybe it's "normal" for this Doosan model. !!

Umbella carousels usually have Txx assigned to a specific fixed position or pot.
Remove the pre-stage Txx from the NC program. You should only have one T command per section.
Make sure that the M6 is calling in the correct tool for that section of code.
