    Question PlanetCNC with Rapidchange ATC

    Hi..

I have home built CNC with PlanetCNC controllr board Mk3/4

and now I have bought Rapidchange ATC as my tool rack for the CNC
    Rapidchange ATC

This solution require the spindle to be able to turn both ways

I have standard 2.2Kw spindle which is capable both directional spin
    and VFD H100-2.2S2-1B 2.2KW manual

    And now to my issue
Till now I have used the 0-10V configuration with digital signal to 0-10 volt circuit, but this allow only one directional spin at this moment
The VFD is capable to function also on signal input from the PlanetCNC board so it can be connected without the signal to 0-10v circuit

    Now my questions

    1.
is it better to stick to the 0-10v setting and configure only directional imput to the VFD

    2.
Is it better to switch to native digital signal input to the VFD

    3.
Can someone more experienced as am I try to help me with this ?

I have configured the VFD some time ago , but I remember it was a pain and I am not sure what to change now to enable the both direction spin.

    Thank you very much.

    Re: PlanetCNC with Rapidchange ATC

U can leave the vfd as it is and change spindle direction with two 3 pair relays. Many older industrial machines uses this way of control spindle direction.

    Re: PlanetCNC with Rapidchange ATC

Usually VFD is controlled with 0-10c vot speed, on/off relay and direction relay.

    Re: PlanetCNC with Rapidchange ATC

    Today
I wired it with 0-10V as speed control and I use switching relay connected to pins X1 and X2
but it does not work .. I can still manage the spindle speed via PlanetCNC software but not the direction
I have configured the Out2 pin to be the switching initiator for the relay and the relay work as it should

this unfortunately does not work .. to test the pins I have configured LOW speed 200RPM to pin X5 and if I turn the spindle on and connect X5 to GND the speed go down.. so the pins work

I am not sure why the direction pins don't work ..

The spindle will change the direction if I press the F/Re button on the VFD ..

I also tried to disable the VFD button for reverse and the the spindle not even start .. but if I connect X5 to GND it spins at the low RPMs

I am sure the configuration of the PlanetCNC board and relay is correct .. I have only issue with the VFD ..
I will try to play with the F067 option for the NPN / PNP settings and try to force the spindle to be always on and regulated only by 0-10V by configuring Run pin on the VFD X3

I found many video tutorials how to do it with this specific VFD , but in all cases the owner purposely disabled the reverse capability.

The M3 / M4 command is switching the relay

Re: PlanetCNC with Rapidchange ATC CV/CCV spindle rotation issue - Solved

Solution to my issue was found ..
The setting F067 was not correct .. in my case it has to be changed to 1 from default 0

Digital input terminal Positive & negative logic
0: Positive logic, wiring mode NPN
1: Negative logic, wiring mode PNP

Now it work as it should
