[QUOTE=JohnReierson;1834592]

Based on the picture the probe and spindle mount appear to be 3d printed?
[It is nylon, turned by a lathe. Tried before 3D printing, but the concentricity is not good.]

Is the rotational axis that drives the spindle driven by a worm gear?
[Yes originally. But changed to other gear drive with less backlash.]

What made you decide to build this machine?
[Just for fun originally. Right now making a bigger one for Ostrich egg shell. Try to develop some business opportunity ]

I only have experience running a simple lathe or mill cnc: Is it harder to program this machine due to the two rotational axes (specifically the one that moves the spindle)? Are you running Mach3? If so, was it hard to set up the rotational axis to work on a cartesian coordinate system?
[I am using Mach2. I just cheat the system that I am working on 3 linear axis, that are X,Y and Z axis. Experience in CNC milling is more than sufficient]

I was thinking of building a SCARA 3d printer, but I have no idea how I would program it to work.
[Tons of learning materials in the net. Just spare some time for it will be OK ]
