Never too late to teach an old dog a new trick.

I made a new base for the ATC that moves it over another inch so now a tool change
is only a half inch off the X home switch.
The ATC home switch is installed too and I mounted the ATC where it belongs.
Got one tool change done before the camera battery died.
Now I need to make a bunch of adapters for my tools so I can use the ER25, boring head, facemill, tension/compression holder, etc.
Don't forget the chip cover too.

Uh... Stupid questions here from a guy about to drive to Springfield, and then send Hoss some bucks...
Anyone figure out a fourth axis? Which table did you use? Because bogie wants a fourth axis...
And the whole concept is continually looking way too cool.
The 6 incher I used not too long ago for the 5th axis/head extension is one I plan to
get again to make a 4th axis out of, the little 4 incher I have just looks like a toy on this mill.

Ok, new battery and here's some tool changes.
Lovin this ATC, took about ten minutes to set it up on the mill and edit the macro to get it working.
Piece of cake.
Thinking of making a monster toolrack now for it.
We'll see what it'll hold.

Are you going to implement a touch plate for ATLO? That would be cool too.
Yeah I'll get my probing running again when the console is redone, I don't have any spare inputs left with this temp setup.

Rather than using my semisolid tool setter, I'll be making a spring loaded tool setter in this vein.
Tool Setter
The Tormach one is just nut$$$.

Looks great Hoss, tool change speed is comparable to one of the machines I setup on at work, fadal vmc4020

I agree, I didn't say I was going to make that exact one, It's just an example of a spring loaded one.
More like the Tormach but MUCH cheaper.

Someone at tormach was on some good drugs when they came up with the price for that
You do get that nice carrying case with it.

Well I was gonna get it but it says they have to charge an extra $5 for insurance, guess the profit margin on it can't support them covering it lol.
So how bout a duplicate of your atc on the other side of the table as well so you have two racks, doable?
Well, sure, could do it but I'd like to be able to have a long piece of stock overhang
the end of one side when needed.
6,8 or 10 tools are plenty to get a job done.
I do have the 12-16 tool atc waiting in the wings though.
