Thanks for the kind words. When i use the router i put a piece of plywood over the slats and cut on top of that. Tables are ready for paint then assembly and wiring.

We will be adding plate marker and 4th axis for cutting tubing

Really nice build-
just what i'm looking at doing- just collating the suppliers at the moment, working out best linear rails etc,
think i'll go for the candcnc kit for the electronics looks like a good solution for my 1st one-!
was wondering, it looks like you've geared the steppers on your rack, is it necessary? i'm looking at a router/plasma combo so wanna get the best resolution/ reduce backlash- what ratio did you go for? and did you gear both x and Y axis?
but v nice build you've got-

Both the x and y have 4 to 1 reduction. Its a good trade off for both plasma and routing. Here are some pics of the current state. One table is going together and the other is going to powder coating.
Dave
looking ever better-!
i was thinking of using a timing belt type arrangement- was that what you did- hoping it'll stay with a fairly low profile to keep everything neat-
i like how you've kept the sliders/ rack on the sides- i figure that'll help loading sheets on etc- i'm thinking of building roughly as you have but then with a false sacrificaial bed to router on top of- maybe with a vacum hold down- which would seal the dust from the water bed-
did you go for the dragon cut- with the 602 oz steppers from tom?
FYI there's a guy over here knocking these out-
your for £18k or $27k.... how much do you reckon yours has set you back-? i imagine i can get mine done for a quarter of that-!
George
George,
Yes i use timing belts. Here is a link to my first build you can see at the bottom of page how the belt reduction works.
