Another Silly Newbie Question I Imagine...

I have 3 different posts and they all do the same thing.

    N20T0101G54M8
    G96S950M3
    G0X7.6Z.1
    G1Z.01F.007
    X7.5
    X.5
    X.4
    G0Z.1
    G28U0W0
    T0100
    M1

That is the code for the rough face. Any idea why it goes from x7.6 to x.4 with 2 steps in between?

    Thanks

It seems like you have .1 lead in and away from toolpath.

No. Most NC controls require a short "lead in" to allow the control to compensate for the cutter radius. I don't see any G41 or G42 in your code but, what in MASTERCAM is called the operations manager there is a place where you can turn on or off lead in and lead out. You can either turn this off if you don't plan on using cutter compensation or adjust the lead in and lead out to minimize wasted motion. Either way you want to be sure that the cutter is not plunging through solid material unless that is what you really want to do. Another possibility is that the line you chained to create your toolpath is segmented. Some posts are smart enough to ignore this but some will see each line segment as a different part of the chain and output separate code for each segment. Another point is that you seem to have a feed rate of .007. Is that in Inches Per Minute (IPM)? if so that would seem to be incredibly slow whether you are plunging or facing.

    Set lead-in and lead-out to 90 degrees

Just out of curiosity, what type of machine are you programming this for? I see code that I don't see in most milling machine programs for instance the G28U0W0 makes it look like a 4 axis machine.
