I don't see that design being rigid enough for routing, although it might work as a drill. That single thin rod that supports the Z axis is the main problem. Replace that with something a lot stouter, and better anchored to the base, and you might have a chance, although all those unsupported rods in the X and Y axes will still be limiting factors.
