    Post Threading

    Hi
I am running mach3 turn I have no problems with any turn wizards but when using the threading program I create a gcode no problem but when I run the program the tool moves to correct position but when it gets to G76 line of code it stops, I also have a proximity sensor and the index light is flashing on the diagnostic screen and the spindle is turned on. my controller is a RnR mach3 usb

    any help would be appreciated

    Re: Threading

I have not tried any of the turning wizards in Mach3 so I cannot speak for their accuracy, but I do remember having some issues with functionality of the results from the wizards from Mach3 mill, but that was 12-15 years ago. I would imagine any issues with the wizards would have been fixed long ago.

If it were me, I would try to replace the G76 line with an older/more simple G92 threading sequence and see if that works. If the G92 sequence works, then I would think there may be some issue with your control or parameters not fully recognizing the G76 sequence, or perhaps a portion of the G76 line is missing or value out of tolerance.

If the G92 sequence results in the same stoppage and flashing index light, then I would guess that there may be an issue with your encoder, which brings me to my next thought. You mentioned having a proximity sensor...what is it sensing? Is there a wheel (attached to the spindle) that it works with, or is there a standalone encoder connected (usually with a belt) to the rotating spindle?

If the machine does not have one of these or if it is not connected or functioning properly, then that would likely be why the process is not working. The control needs to be able to "synchronize" the beginning of the Z-axis movement with the rotational location of the spindle so that each pass of the threading cycle can start in the same place (both linear location of Z-axis and angular location of spindle axis).

I apologize if you already knew all of this and it is of no help, but hopefully it at least gives you an idea of what else to look for!
