    interface card

    Hey Hillbilly

Out of all the cards still in this old BP That one is not! You were right about the missing reader!

I plan on keeping all the Spindle goodies and install new drivers and power supply!

Do you have a breakout board for this project?

Like you, I plan on Mach 3 for system interface!(group)

    Thanks

    Jim

Yes my board would work. There is a couple of BP's out there using my board with Gecko and Cobra drives. I have used it with Yaskawa drives.

    Yes.

When people use my board with the original drives and the MaxNC CL setting in Mach 3, This is the pinout. This can also apply to standard knee mill using step and directions signals.

I have heard of EMC closing the loop on steppers with encoders but not Mach 3.

JimPAC - regarding the QC questions on springs. No springs on mine that I'm aware of (not in front of the machine). I believe it is all camming action.

Hey there Jim - you should be about done with that retrofit by now? :-)

I've never taken one of these nuts apart, but I thought it was just tightening the threads to lock in the holder? I thought these were 3 main parts - the outside, the inside and the lock ring, but again I've never taken one apart.

Please send a pic of what is inside so I don't have to take mine apart to learn :-)

Jim - can you take a pic of how the oiler goes through the knee to the distribution block way up there and then how oil gets to the Z parts? My manuals don't show enough information to help me figure this part out.

The other information I need to learn is what the Bijur oil valve sizes are for the X and Y - Mine was all apart and I'm still guessing what went where. Bijur and B-port are no help, so I need to copy someone elses. If you move the table all the way to the right and remove the access panel from below you can get to that area. (?)

I'm pretty sure that nut is Erickson nmtb. Universal had 2 arms that stuck out from the tool holder, NMTB has two slots as shown

    Question BP manual?

    JIMPAC,
did I understand your post to say you have the manuals for the BP series II Interact 4? I'd be willing to pay you to scan and send them to me. Have been looking for months.

There are 3 plugs that interface the BOSS computer to the machine. You wire these 3 plugs to my board, which is hooked to the printer port of a PC running Mach software. The cost of the board with instructions is $79.
