Just like the title says. Is it possible to thread mill external NPT threads? It would be on the end of 22mm square bar.

We're threadmilling external 2" NPT threads on our mill as we speak.

Thanks for the link! Now that I have found the tool I just have to learn how to use it and program it. I have never came across the situation where I needed to thread mill. This job would be 1,000 parts per week so I need to figure out how to do it pretty quick.
If you have a decent CAM program it should be a piece of cake.
I'm using Gibbscam 2006. It's just a matter of knowing where to plug in the numbers.
Search Kiwi's threads I found a post on pipe threading milling that he gave a link to a program that generates the G code My bobcad has a spirel generate but I haven's got it to give me all three XY&Z #'s just one of the many bug's
Good luck Kevin
In Gibbs 2006 it should be under "Plugins" and "Create tapered thread"
I found that in gibbs last night. I haven't threadmilled before so it is new. I bought a threadmill from advent. It is an M8x1 multiple thread. If I understand correctly you start and the bottom of the thread and make 1-2 360* rotations moving up in Z. I'm not sure what values to plug into gibbs to get the right toolpath.
Here is a screenshot of what I'm working with
The tool diameter is .232.
You want to make a NPT thread using a metric thread form? Or do you just want to make a straight thread? What is the exact thread form/pitch you're looking to make?
Either way, you'll want to use an endmill to turn the top of your square into a circle.
Sorry, I am jumping around on you. This is a different part. It needs an internal Metric M8x1 thread through the center of it. The thread has to be .280 deep. That is critical.
Fill in the prompts in the threading window and you should be good to go.
Turn on "balloons" if you need more info on a certain area.
