NEW AUTOMATIC TOOL CHANGE CNC ROUTER SPINDLE, PRE-RELEASE

    Hello all,

Blurry Customs is nearing the release of a brand new automatic tool change (ATC) system, designed for our line of CNC routers, DIY machines, and other commercial systems.

At the core of this system, will be the new Avenger spindle interface. A high precision spindle interface, easily mountable to almost any CNC platform. This spindle platform will be able to handle speeds up to 25,000 rpm, allow for quick manual tool changes, and be easily integrated into fully automatic tool change systems, all while operating on standard shop air pressures.

We have begun this thread to chronicle the release of the system, and request feedback from CNC users. Over the next couple of weeks we will be releasing details of the system, choosing beta testers, and answering questions on the system, as we approach a full release.

We are also hoping to gain a small insight into the demand for this product, in order to efficiently plan for production volumes.

If you have any interest in an affordable ATC spindle system, and would like more information on beta testing, distributing, or pre-orders feel free to contact us at the address below. OEM's are also welcome to contact us for information on OEM sales.

Keep an eye on this thread for updates.

I would be interested in an auto toolchanging router if the price is right.

What horsepower, range will these be?

What type of toolholder and size of bits?

    What price range?

Sorry about all the questions but I am sure I will not be the only one!

    Regards,
    Eric

I appreciate the questions and do expect quite a few until we are able to get all of the information out there.

-The Avenger system is designed to handle 2-5HP, based on provided motor.
*This system is designed to be as modular as possible, and one of the key features is the ability to provide your own motor in the form of many popular hand routers like the Bosch 1617EVS, and Porter Cable models up to 4.25" in diameter. More options to come.

-The Avenger system is designed around a dedicated tooling system, that was developed to provide high performance cutting capabilities while still maintaining lower cost than many tooling systems currently available. The tool holders will provide tooling options including standard sized end mill holders up to 1/2" and up to ER25 holders which can handle up to 5/8" shank sizes

-I will send our projected pricing information through a PM. All pricing requests should be in the form of a PM or email until we can finalize the numbers.

Thank you again for all of the interest.

Is this an all new taper/tooling design or an adaptation of a currently available one?

Is this a cartridge style spindle, or just a small spindle add-on for an existing spindle?

-The Avenger System uses a new style of toolholder known as the AVQS125. Though it's design is based on principles from both ISO and HSK style holders.

-Avenger system is a very compact cartridge spindle. Upon initial release, popular routers will be used for motors, and will be directly coupled to the Avenger system, Motor cartridges, in various power ratings and speed ranges, will also be available at a later date.

The Avenger spindle carries all of the burden of the mechanical spindle function on ABEC 9 angular contact bearings. Allowing for high load ratings, high accuracy, and high speeds.

    More information to come.

Yeah, the 890's are the same diameter as the Bosch 1617 (3.5"), and we will be making housings for the large 7518s.

I am also interested in the spindle. The cost will be the determining factor. As of now the only tool change systems I know about are not cheap. The cheapest with four tool holders and tool rack is $2750.00. The next inline with no toolholders just the spindle is $3700.00. Yours looks very interesting. If the system is sub $1500.00 I would be interested. The tooling availability and price is a big part of the equation. I can buy cat 40 toolholders for my mill between $50.00-$200.00. As of now nobody sells a truly affordable system. I'd love to see yours beat that trend. I would like to hear more when videos of the toolchanger working and pricing is available. Thanks, Judleroy

Well, it's only been a few days and we have had very good response for these preorders. We have decided to increase production levels, which translates into some further discounts on these preorders:

Preorder price as of Dec. 7, 2009

$1,845.00 per spindle and $8 off tool holders

    One note regarding shipping:

Increased production will be putting a strain on our shipping schedule, so we will be shipping on a first come first serve basis starting at the end of January.

Let me know if there are any questions.
