    Post Cutting force

    Hello!
I'm trying to calculate deflections on my new cnc machine. My machine is supposed to route in wood and plastics.
What's the cutting force for eg feed rate 500 mm/min, cutting deep 5mm, 5mm end mill, wood or plastic? Is it 10N, 100N or what.

You can also give me an exampel in imperial units!

    A formula is welcome!

    Thanks!

My formula charts are in my locker at school, but you could run that about as fast as you wanted. If I remember correctly, oak knots cut about the same as aluminum,so any wood softer than that would cut faster.

    Talking It's wood?

Push it hard and when you get chatter (tool/machine deflection >= chip load) then back off a bit with the feed, that is unless you stall the steppers, then you really need to back off more.
Super X3. 3600rpm. Sheridan 6"x24" Lathe + more. Three ways to fix things: The right way, the other way, and maybe your way, which is possibly a faster wrong way.

With "the new machine" I mean the machine that I'm trying to construct.

I have found some formulas but miss the bending strength for mdf and wood(pine, deal).
The bending strength for aluminum (and oak as jason07 said) is 800 N/mm^2.

Most of the time i will route in mdf and pine/deal and want to optimize the machine for that and when routing in harder materials I will reduce the speed and cutting deep.
