Pretty cool although I wish the board used 48v relays so you could use power direct from main PS. Noob question, how many amps does 12v relays need?

I had considered that, but when I thought this might be a good product to offer, I decided that going with the 12VDC relays would make it more universal. Not everyone is using 48VDC power supplies. Some are using 24VDC and some are using 12VDC. It made more sense to go with the low end of the spectrum.

Noob question, how many amps does 12v relays need?
The coils on these 12VDC G5L relays only requires about 50mA. It may be less. The relay themselves can handle up to 10A on their switching contacts. Since the G540 switches the ground side of the coil, you supply the other side of the coil from a steady 12VDC source.

    Jason,

how hard would it be to add LEDs to show when the relay is energized?

Just a quick update on the G540 Interface Boards. The remaining parts will be here tomorrow and then I will have 10 built units, ready for shipping. The first few are already spoken for with orders in waiting.

    Thanks!

Nice job! I think that will be a big seller for you and make using the G540 easier and neater. What is the center to center dimensions of the mounting holes? It might just fit a small enclosure I am considering.

    Thanks

I'll have to verify it when I get home, but I think I went with 10mm in equally on each corner. That is what I usually do when I have plenty of room to work with.

Thanks, Action! Should be there any day. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it's waiting on you in the mail today. I put all of pending orders in the mail Friday morning, before I headed out of town for the weekend. We ship everything USPS Priority, so they claim two days coast to coast, but I have seen three days before.

    Jason,

sorry for the confusing way I asked the question. I was trying to determine the size of the board OA?

    73

OK, this should answer either question!

very cool and niche idea! I'm ready to order as soon as I verify the following:

    1) I have a 48v power supply. Can I use it with this board?

    2) Like most others, i wish to toggle my bosch router (120v 12amps) on/off using one of the outputs. do you have a clear wiring diagram for an electronics noob like myself? (i.e. does this act as a switch for the router or power supply)

    3) I also wish to toggle my dust collector (120v 11amps) on/off w/ the second output. is this feasible?

I actually just found a 48V relay with the same form factor as the 12V relay we originally used, so I am now offering the board with either 12V or 48V relays. You choose when you order by adding the particular version to your shopping cart.

    2) Like most others, i wish to toggle my bosch router (120v 12amps) on/off using one of the outputs. do you have a clear wiring diagram for an electronics noob like myself? (i.e. does this act as a switch for the router or power supply)
The relays we have on board are good up to 10A, so I wouldn't recommend using them directly for this, however, you could use them to trigger a higher current contactor meant for switching 110VAC with a higher current. If you are interested, I can work up a simple diagram to show you how.

    3) I also wish to toggle my dust collector (120v 11amps) on/off w/ the second output. is this feasible?
Should work just as the above. Same setup with a 110V contactor.

Just a note, the 48V relays are on order and should be here early next week. If you order a 12V, it can ship out today. 48V version will be near the end of next week.

    Thanks for the interest!
