    Hi there:
I am afraid to conect an NO-optoisolated PCB on my paralel port.
What kind of tests can i make or have you guys other type of Break out board that are more safe? I saw on Phil´s site a Opto-isolated one, but it don´t have the lay-out... Can you help guys?
    Thanks a lot!

    Ito,
The important part of using a non isolated system is appropriate power common (gnd).
You want no or miniscule current flow from the PC to the BOB. Checks really depend on what your configuration is.

    the BreakOutBoard is ready.
Would we start a new thread "troubleshooting the Simple BOB and L297-8 driver " for every one that would realize this board ?
In this way we can communicate between us and leave our experience for the others ?

    Pigi

P.S. I will start it now.

I use 3x Discrete stepper driver. They´re not ready yet, because i can´t find the IRLZ44 MOSFETs heare. I tryed the BUK556-60 or 555, but we on´t have it heare in jungle, hahaha!
My motors have only 3.1A and 12V Max. May I use another FET?
Well, i am trying don´t use the breakout, just because money. What about the Sn74LS06 use to "breakout" my Drivers?

Ito, in effect you do have the equavalent of a 74ls06 in the 74HC14, Just make sure you wire the PC ground lines. Did you download the document for the board that has the diagram for hardwiring the driver boards?

I gess we are not talking the same language, hehehehe! what I NEED is the MOSFET equivalent: IRLZ44 . this part simply don´t exist heare. I´m tryingo in other states, but not many successfully.
But thanks anyway, if you know about an IRLZ44 equivalent, or some FET to drive my 3.1A / 12V motors, please let me know ok?

    timewarp,

I just bought the parts. The pcb kay-out are not "engraved". I will do it manually, because i don´t know how to transfer the lay-out to the board, so i will use my future CNC tool head to engrave manually the pcb´s. Where can I take the new discrete driver?

Phil, no I haven't started yet, Just getting some things together. I am very new to this, so i thought I'd start with the breakout board, still kind of fuzzy on picking out driver boards. Thought it would make a good general pupose Mach2 board. Any way to add joystick control, torch height? Thanks so much.

If all else fail's he could use the sta406a
    http://www.alldatasheet.co.kr/datash...N/STA406A.html
its a 6amp 60v npn quad package darlington driver. Or any of the darlington STA series which fit the needs maybe? I could be way off sarry if I am, I have not looked at the schematic for the break out board yet.
When I get home to night I'm goign to be putting the finishing touches on my step/dir to phase controller board consisting of 2 16f84's running at 4mhz. board works already I just have to finish the drive lines going to a darlington driver setup I have consisting of 3 mp4102's and one sta406a's. its a nice quad stepper motor driver setup.
