Hmm, that is weird. What could have changed since it worked last time?

More tests to isolate the problem:

    * Try GDflasher utily to test communication to drives. Also you may try flashing firmware to drives, it will reset all saved settings (if that would help).

    * Unplug all unnecessary USB devices from computer. If some other device has FTDI brand chip, it may get mixed with TTL232 cable.

    * Try GDtool on another computer (just in case it's software/driver/windows issue)

Please let me know how the tests went.

Where can I find the firmware and the GDFlasher utility?

I received the USB cable today, so I will try it tonight.

I have tried two computers with the same results.

    Tero-

I tried the GDFlasher utility, with the new and old cable on two different drives. Neither of these would connect.

On the drive when I would turn it off and back on according to the directions, the Green led turned on and the Red led would flash.

    What is the next step?

Led flashing confirms that at least data is going to drive direction (drive changes to firmware upgrade mode).

What comes to my mind is that something (maybe temporary wiring error or even ESD) may have killed output optoisolators. That's the most sensitive part to fail if CMD/SPI connectors are electrically harassed.

I would like to take a look on the drive and find out if there's something wrong in them. We do the evaluation for free once drives are delivered to us. If it's warranty/unclear case, repair and return shipping will be free.
