    echain

that echain (x, y) looks to small and filmsy for the unit and build.... the damp weather is starting to rust your unpainted parts ie wheel hubs..( time for paint and cnc noise)....other wise looks nice.

At this point, with those dimensions, it would be nice to have a camera near the spindle the to see what the tool is doing without the need of a binocular...

    Great to see it moving!!

I still think you should have designed in more reach to do a greater undercut.

This is probably a stupid question, because i know the possibilities are endless, but what does he mainly plan on milling with this monster? Is he going to buy blocks of metal the size of small cars and mill them lol. I want to know what he plans on doing with this beast on a regular basis.

    Hi,
    Great work you have done..
I just want to know about the stepper motors and drivers...Yours 28NM stepper Motors are beefy i think you also used one 58NM motor too.. I am building 2000mm X 2000mm X 300mm Gantry Router that will have a capability to cut 150mm STEEL PLATE...

I need your help as you have done a major part in your machine..CAn you tell me please about the stepper Motor supplier and from where you got the stepper Controller Cards?

and also kindly tell me Why you not used Servo?

I will be thankful for your reply.

    on X1,X2 and Y axis exist 28Nm
    on Z,A and C axist 50Nm motors

It is difficult to found 58Nm on market... even 50Nm is not cheap (28Nm is much cheaper)

I am a supplier of motors, drivers and other modules of electronic (as a ready to use control cabinet)

    28Nm is 110mm size, 7.8A current

    50Nm is 130mm size, 7.8A current

to control this motors, you need to use high voltage driver
I use additional trafo - 230/180, so.. I use lower voltage
but.. it is possible to use 230VAC powering

I recommend you to search driver with 7,8A current and 230VAC powering
and 28Nm stepper motors (or 30Nm)

other elements of electronics - typical
    opto isolation for lpt (BOB)
protection for AC powering - varistor, filters, fuses... isolation transformer (big)
if you will use BIG toroid trafo - softstart is needed!

Controller Cards - it is opto isolation for lpt (BOB) (my diy)
I added extra LEDs and resistors - to have light effects ... and 24V controlling of drivers (like servo drive have)

    -cost
-and simplicity of steppers (no need of encoder cables)

look on needed torque on A and C axis... is really big
gearbox solve the problem... but cost is HIGH (needed for servo and stepper motor)
so...it was chosen timing belt as a gear to enlarge the torque (3x50Nm)
