    CAPTAIN ACTING STRANGE!

I have this small part I am making on my Captain, 1st time run. I have an endmill in live tool head to cut a slot on the face. I then bring sub spindle up to pick off. Since it was a new program I ran the first few parts in single block.
I cut it loose after a few tweeks and the fun began! The sub rapids up, part catcher comes up, sub opens, catcher back, Sync both spindles. When it got the G94 line below it just sat there, spindle turning but no movement.

I spend 2 hours dicking around and call my dealer. They had me try different things but still no go. I then figured out if I skipped over the milling op. it would run, WTF. As a fluke I deleted the M147 and M146
(C axis clamp and unclamp) and the damn thing ran!

Have you set the chuck details in the parameters?

Not sure what you mean about chuck parameters. I checked my chuck open and close inputs and they were correct.

    Cool

"it just sat there, spindle turning but no movement."

I've seen this if you have air blow on with spindle jogging active and then command an M5. The spindle Jog conflicts with the spindle stop command and it does what you describe.

I think you have not given us the EXACT program you are running since you describe something different than your code reveals. Either that or your not revealing enough code since your description implies parts catcher commands , chucking commands, and air blow commands as well, but they are not in your sample code.

    Let us know...

    Is it a P200L control?

If yes Setting the chuck parameter will internally set the size and weight of the chuck This internally change the the CNS files for tuning the C axis

It is a E100L control. I am not sure what parameter your are talking about.

    Okumawiz:
Here is the entire code. Just a quick note: when I bought the machine the application guy who trained me did not like to use G96 on cut off w/ sub. Said it took to long to sync spindles. His method required jumping back and forth w/ G140 and G141. I didn't care for that as it ran out of SFM as it got smaller. I plug this method in and it would run. As you can see I have no airblows in pro.

    Thanking all for help.

Ok that parameter is not in an E control.

So where does it stop? on whick block?

Also why so much load? 80% is way over the top.

Could it be as simple as a decimal point missing, like 0.0100" per minute feedrate
The feed is slow making it seem like it has stopped

I know some machines can have the decimal omitted making it 100"/minute

I am with Superman, what are your minimum inputs set at in your control?
You CAN do anything, if you REALLY want to, but how many people really want to?

I agree that you load call out is too high. You may be stalling out because you are pushing on the chuck so hard that it can't close properly because it is pinched. I've seen this before. Try a load around 50 for your G29 and about 30 or so for your G 22 line.

Check your block data screen to see if anything is blinking showing what it is trying to do. Also check your chuck switches to see if you can open and close the chuck at that point and get confirmation. (use slide hold)

By the way, what is your actual W position when it stops?

    Best regards,

    CAPTAIN ACTING STRANGE

Dont run it without the battery, even though it will work. That is what is making the tach act strange, once you get a decent battery in there it will work fine.

-D.lusty: What battery are we talking about?

    - OkumaWiz: It stops at the W.25 position, the spindles are still running, just acts like it is waiting on something. I check my chuck clamps inputs and that all seemed in order. As I posted earlier once I took out my C clamp and unclamp codes it would run (which I did to finish job). I will bring my torque limits down the next time I use sub.

budgieW: I have the chuck interlock on, M247

    Thanking all again.

Thanks to all. I think I am having an issue w/ the brake on the sub. Appears it is dragging and I wonder if that was not part of the problem. My dealer is coming today to look at it.
