Hi,

When using 2D high speed milling toolpaths (Mastercam X5) it is supposed to utilize the full flute length of the tool. I've noticed that mastercam doesn't care what flute length I have entered for the tool, it just uses the full depth of the feature I'm cutting.

In my case I have a tool with a flute length of 8 mm, but I am cutting a 10 mm deep pocket (Using dynamic area mill). The tool just goes to 10 mm and then starts removing material. (Which would obviously lead to a collision). When verifying the toolpath there is no indication of collision.

I know I can set the depth parameter to force it to do cuts of a certain depth at a time, but shouldn't this be included in the toolpath calculation?? Am I doing anything wrong here?

Thanks,
Soren
