Info on Eastern Air Devices ??stepper??

    Hi folks,

I'm just getting into this CNC stuff so pardon my ignorance please I'm a surplus junky and a scrounge, I like to keep my hobbies cheap - as does my wife. I have found some motors that I believe are steppers. If they can prove useful I could probably source a bunch of them, but if you could take a look I would appreciate it.

    Label:
    HYST SYN MOTOR
    EASTERN AIR DEVICES
    21V 173.3HZ 2PH .02HP
    2.0A 10400RPM CLB
    CONT DUTY
    H34NHS-4
    9732 08813
    <end>

    4 wire wh/r/bk/bl
    1.3 ohm between wh/bk and between r/bl

It seems to be a stepper type motor when I play with a battery.... Thoughts??

    Thanks,
    Marc

    OK, no takers

does anyone think it's possibly a bipolar stepper?

    Just an idea.

Maybe it is a synchronous motor from the description.

If you know where is it dismantle from, it will give you a basic idea what is the function of it.

    Thanks for the reply!

Yes, I think is is a synchronous motor by the description as well. I notice a lot of steppers are called synchronous/stepper motors. It seems like it was used to control a prism in some sort of laser assembly.

The reason I persue this is that there are 100 or more that may be available at a very low price .

From the description of 10400RPM @ 173.3Hz thats a 2 pole synchronous motor, so I don't think you will be able to use them.
Most steppers cannot reach 10K RPM and are 200+ steps/rev.
