    Fanuc tape mode

I have a fanuc 10m that has a tape reader on the side of the machine with two rs 232 ports, on the controller there is no switch to put it in tape mode.
I was told that sometimes the switch is in the parameters. This needs to be done in order to dripfeed the machine. Can anyone help.

    Thanks Mike Roy From Canada

    Mike -

I have not heard that there is a parameter per say. It more it like an option from the dealer of the Machine Tool Builder. The machine will typically have an TAPE MODE switch or button on the control. If not, then you did not get the machine with this feature. Kind of like asking for SUN ROOF in your car, deal might have it already installed or you can go back and have them add it for a NICE PRICE...$$$

    Mike,

This is something that can be added to the control. It requires a mod to the mode switch (assuming it's rotary) and a ladder edit. We typically charge about $3K for it.
