KFLOP + Kanalog to JF H2N-TD 3Phase 220V Servo Drive Wiring Questions

    Hello,

I am wiring up a kflop + kanalog with a JF H2N-TD 3Phase 220V Servo Drive and am in need of wiring guidance.

Particularly confused by the presence of a pulse + and pulse - along with sign + and sign - on the servo driver input and not the kflop. How should this be hooked up?

What are the AS+ and AS- (motor speed +/-10V) for and where do they fit?

Also what to do with three separate + and - encoder signals, OA+, OA-, OB+, OB-, OC+, OZ-; do I need all three? where would these go?

    Attached is the H2N-TD pinout.

    Thanks a million!

Here is a pinout of the CN2 port of the servo drive.

    Hi,

You might consider driving the Amplifier in Analog mode and closing the Position loop in KFLOP rather then using pulse and direction and closing the position loop in the servo drive.

If you want to use pulse and sign on the drive you will need to research the input specifications. The pages you attached do not have enough information on voltage levels, currents, or timing. In most cases the + terminals can be connected to +5V and the - to a KFLOP Step or Direction Output in Open Collector mode. But you should check the drive specification first to be sure.

For Analog Command connect a Kanalog DAC Output to the Drive AS+ and a Kanalog GND to AS-

Regarding the Encoder. All that is required are the A/B encoder quadrature phases. The third signal is a once per revolution index pulse. If you want to make use of that for some reason it can be connected to any unused A or B differential input. That input can then be tested in your homing routine in software.

Thanks Tom!!!! That helps a ton. One more question. We want precise 3d printing control from this. The analog as+/as- appears to be motor speed control. Would that work for position control? do we need to use pulse+sign to get precise unidirectional control for this?

    Thanks again!

    Hi madprinter,

Speed control of the drive will work fine for accurate positioning. KFLOP will command the appropriate speed to move to the desired position based on the position feedback.

Re: KFLOP + Kanalog to JF H2N-TD 3Phase 220V Servo Drive Wiring Questions

Awesome Tom! got it wired ready to configure. Using the dac+ and ground on the Kanalog and the A0+, A0-, B0+, B0- on the Kanalog for encoder input with servo ON wired to +5v.

Would configuration of the axis input be encoder and output 3ph servo or da servo?

I think this will be running shortly!!

Thanks so much for the help. Learning a lot!

Re: KFLOP + Kanalog to JF H2N-TD 3Phase 220V Servo Drive Wiring Questions

Selected input = encoder for channel 0 and output = dac for channel 0 and sent some gcode but no changes on da analog output screen with Kanalog enabled.

    Suggestions?

How do the X Y Z axis in gcode match up to channels in kflop? Wiring them that way makes sense but how do you tell the kflop that a certain axis should be X = channel 0?

    Thanks

You need to tune the motors in the kmotion software step response screen before trying g-code. Also you have to define your coordinate system before kmotion cnc will do anything. Have you tried pushing the move button on the step response screen to see what happens. Have you manually turned the motor shaft and observed the io screen to see if the encoder is working correctly? You are getting way ahead of yourself.

    Thanks for the response Ben!

I left the defaults mostly the same, not sure which output type to use. I got the Dac section of the analog screen to Flux by using screencs and dest0 commands but no measurable output on the Dac out section of the kanalog and the drives don't respond. Read hundreds of pages on this In the last week, still confused.

Is dac servo the right output type for using the dac out on kanalog with 3 phase servo drives?

    Thanks a ton!

    Hi Madprinter,

Yes "DAC Servo" output type is for driving Kanalog DACs.

You might follow the suggestions in this post for testing your connections and verifying your motor axis can servo.

Re: KFLOP + Kanalog to JF H2N-TD 3Phase 220V Servo Drive Wiring Questions

Thank you TK! That link you sent is dead on. I wired one servo the same way exactly and used those commands. I can set dac0=20 and get a voltage output on the kmotion.exe Kanalog screen. However, that voltage doesn't show up on the dac0 out when tested with a meter AND SWE port is showing 0 volts, 3.3 is showing 1.7 volts and 1.7 is showing .57 volts while 5 volts port is showing 4.97 volts !!!!!! I feel like this is wrong. I test 5 and 12 on the molex input connector just fine. ?????

    Thanks much!

Also checking the kanalog digital out opto 0 or any of the automatically unchecks itself with nothing plugged in and something plugged in. Is this normal?

Re: KFLOP + Kanalog to JF H2N-TD 3Phase 220V Servo Drive Wiring Questions

    Hi Madprinter,

If 3.3V out measures only 1.7V that would be completely wrong and make no sense. The 3.3V comes from KFLOP through the ribbon connection. Are you sure the cable is completely connected? It would be very unlikely that KFLOP could work at all with the 3.3V supply at 1.7V. Note that probing the top of a screw terminal is not reliable if the screw is not tight.

dac0=20 should only output 0.1V. Were you looking for small voltage changes? Test bigger numbers like 1000 that should be ~5V.

It doesn't make sense to measure SWE with a voltmeter as it works like a switch to GND. A voltmeter connected to a switch will not read any voltage whether the switch is open or closed.

Is the Kanalog Enable LED on?

4.97V as the 5V supply should work fine.

12V is not needed on the Molex connector. It would be better to remove it.
