Yes, the laptop should do it fine. You should install the driver software to the laptop BEFORE plugging in the laser. If you have not installed the software first, then Windows will assign the best driver it thinks it should use and it will not be right.
You will probably need to uninstall that USB and then install the software and finally plug the laser in.
BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU REMOVE IN THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS
To uninstall the USB controller go to
Start
Control Panel
Device Manager
Universal Serial Bus controllers
Find the controller and remove it.
To uninstall the USB port assigned to it
Start
Control Panel
Printers
Select the printer driver for the laser and right-click.
Click the "Ports" tab and look down the list for...
USB: < whatever the laser is called >
Remove it.
Reboot and then load the software and after that plug the USB in.
Please make sure you know and understand what you are doing when removing stuff.

yessss :rainfro::rainfro::rainfro:
thanx for your time
Were you successful?
I would be surprised if this worked since the iehk300 uses direct parallel handshaking which is likely not supported with a USB-->Parallel adapter.
Zax.
not working
nothing ...uhh...must fix some old computer
So what driver would you choose for the IE300 then?
cheers
Jake
I've never had good success with hooking up anything other than a printer up to a USB/parallel adapter. Sorry. You may be better off looking for a PCMCIA parallel card for your laptop. That is assuming you have a PCMCIA slot in your laptop. You can pick them up on ebay for about $15 including shipping.
