I understand the problems of noise. But before I installed this screenset 2010 I had never problems with noise. I used the standard Mach3 profile with a standard probe script for over one year without any problems.

How is it possible that I have installed this screenset and then I get some noise problems? I don’t get it why. Maybe you can explain it to me.

Other question is off course how can I get rid of this noise problems if they are there.

In that case I will have to pass you over to Gerry. I have not used his screen set myself for probing.
Noise - I don't know what your interface looks like, but maybe Gerry does. Sorry.
That said, small filter caps are often involved, plus some SW filtering in Mach.

Ritmeester, Did you ever get your auto zero probing to work properly? I am having the exact same issue. I downloaded and installed the new M909.m1s file into my profile macro folder and restarted Mach3 with 2010 Screenset as I think you were advised to do, but the probe still goes down after initial zero probe. I looked at the probe line with a 200Mhz scope and found less than 20mV noise and no spikes at all. my Mach 3 profile is set up for 6ms (150 units) debounce time. Any help or advice is appreciated!

6 mS is rather long. I think I run 1 mS SW debounce, and that works fine with g31/ESS/Mach3.062/XP

Thanks Roger, Absolutely right. I ran it up to 6ms to get a troubleshooting data point. I normally run it at 1ms with no issues, although 6 ms translates to just .001" at 10 ipm.

Noting the general consensus that noise is the usual culprit (although I see none with the scope), I just tried adding an RC network to the probe input on my C10 breakout board (which has a 4.7k pull up to 5V) with 470 Ohms in series with the probe and 1uF from the input to ground. This gives a TC of 0.5 mS. The resulting voltage divider still provides a low of 0.45V which satisfied the 74ACT245's max low input of 0.88V.

After this mod, I still get the erroneous zero probe behavior where after first touch, the probe continues to go down after short delay, so I remain befuddled. Again, any suggestions are most welcome.

I was reading the thread in the wrong order when I assumed the macro was suggested as a fix to our issue. It is not necessary. I am still working on the assumption that the issue is noise, but I don't see any with a 200 mHz scope. Maybe it is high speed transients that my Chinese scope isn't triggering on?

I can’t go further with this. I have restored a image back on my computer with the original Mach3. (I always make a Ghost image from my PC when I install something like this) And all works perfect again

I must make production. For this time I must give it up and throw away $27.- . and € 95.- for a 1980x1080 monitor.

If the transients are THAT fast, then I doubt Mach or the PC will see them either.

Do you know what motion controller the machine is using? Most chinese Mach3 motion controllers do not handle probing properly.
Also, what version of Mach3 are you using? Do NOT use the current version, 3.043.066. Use 3.043.062 instead.

Find this block of code, and change this line.

Right now it moves 2x the probe diameter.
You can replace "2*ProbeD" with a value, like 1.5.

There are 4 corner macros, M905-M908.

Paul, what motion controller are you using?

I am using old school Windows XP with parallel port run by Mach 3 V 3.043.066 - no motion controller at all. I cannot yet find a link to V 3.043.062 at the NewMangled solutions website.

UPDATE - Just found link to 3.043.062 at Warp9 site. I'll install and report results ASAP
