Hello all,
The following is a cad mock up of a modified crp100-00 design from cncrouterparts.com with their rack and pinion system mounted going down the middle of the frame. The gray framing is all based on 15 series 8020 aluminum. The R&P systems I've seen so far utilize two sets for the x-axis and I'm wondering if something like the following might work to reduce this to one. I doubt it would save much money, but I wanted to share it anyway.
Everything else would be the same as the crp100-00 design so I've only done a quick cad model of what the elongated (60inch) x-axis might look like with the r&p going up the middle. There would be 4 "extended linear carriages" for the x-axis. I wondered if this would have some stiffening benefit.
I'm interested in a longer version because I would like to make molds for wind turbine blades.
I'd be interested in feedback based on the main concept. I realize the cad model is lacking in detail.
Thanks
