Michael,

My setup is pretty simple. A single piece of 3/4" MDF that is full-depth and just slightly shy of the machine's cutting width. On either side of this (with a gap of about 1/2") I have a length of t-track that runs full-depth. The gap lets me surface the spoil board without running into the t-track. I did surface my spoil board, which created a slight ledge or lip at either end since the board is longer than the cutting area.

I do most of my cutting on purpose-built jigs, and these rest on the spoil board and are bolted to the t-track. Other things do get cut directly on the spoil board. They are either screwed directly to it or clamped using the t-track when possible.

So far it works pretty well. The ledges caused by surfacing the spoil board give me a nice 90 degree reference for setting my jigs, and I don't cut on the "permanent" spoil board too often, so it should last a while.

Regards,

Randy
