    Quick turn 15

    Hi all-

I have a chance to buy a quick turn 15 for a very cheap price. The problem is if has been sitting without power for a year or longer, and the battery for the PLC is dead.

The owner said it worked fine when they stopped using it. It looks to be in good shape, no rust or oops on the slides or chuck.

My question is how hard is it to reinstall the PLC program?

Anything obvious I need to watch out for?

I have the procedure most parameters for the T2, but the seller should have?
It does not take long by hand.
If he is the original owner he should also have all the Mazak manuals.
The usual symptom with lost parameters is asterisks on the screen.

Al- he said his son has them somewhere. But his son is the reason he is selling everything. So I am not counting on much. I am only paying scrap prices for it.

If you buy it, before running it in production check the servo and spindle brushes for wear and condition.

it may be cheaper/easier to just call out a service guy from Mazak if one is available near you. this kind of problem can get very time consuming. if you want to run your machine as soon as possible I'd go with the official service people.

Although it doesn't take much to replace the batteries, and try the parameters, if all else fails, then go to plan B?

    Update time--

It has taken some time, but I finally got the equipment home.

now to hook it all up.

    I ended up with a QT 15, a Hurco MD3, and a do-all bandsaw c3300 nc

    let the fun begin!

    Ok- Time for the fun

I was able to get the QT15 in it's new home, Got the power connected, and turned on.

The good thing was no magic smoke!!!!

The bad thing is the CRT is full of snow.

I tried to re seat all the board, and checked all the connections in case one came loose during the move.

There are no error messages on the controls in the back, or on the boards mounted on the front on the controller door.

The control is a T-2 if that helps.

    Any ideas?

I have been talking with mitisubishi about the qt 15, and they have been very helpful, but still not having any luck.

All of the batteries are replaced, and the errors are cleared, but the CPU is not talking to the I/O board that connects to the CRT. According to mitisubishi, I need to blank the memory on the controller and reinstall the parameters. This should get the controller talking with the I/O board.

The problem is the cable to connect the pc to the controller. I have talks to three people at mitisubishi and have gotten three different wiring diagrams for the d9 to d25 cable. Does anyone have the correct wiring diagram?

I still can't get hyperterminal to connect to the controller.

They are now suggesting that I send in the entire controller rack for evaluation. What do you think. They are wanting 650.00 just to tell me what is wrong.

    Any ideas?

When I did mine, it was just a plain straight through cable. I had a hard time finding one locally, though.

    Good luck.
