Networking 8 Mills through router to 1 PC.

I currently have 8 Fadal Mills that all have RS-232 ports in the back. I have Cat5 Cable run to each of them do to the fact that I used to have a PC at every machine for sending/receiving programs. Unfortunately these PCs have started dying and I don't feel like constantly having to replace them. I've read that it is possible just to have all 8 of my machines networked through a router to a single PC and I would love to do this, though I have no idea how. I've also read that I might need a Serial IP Extender to make this happen (do I really need one?). If someone could provide me with some insight into the matter I would be grateful.

I really don't know anything about RS-232 but I have 2 PC's with WIN XP connected to a router and can exchange files, folders etc. in both directions. I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for.
