Is it possible to lock the programs below 8000 so they cannot be edited even with the key? I know 8000 and 9000 programs can be locked via parameters

Is There An Edit Lock On Machine If Not One Other Way To Do It Is Save A .txt When You Name It Put .loc O1234.loc Can Not Be Edited Or This Used To Be True
The lock is implemented by the machine tool builder and he has the option of individually locking out parameters, part programs and tool offsets, many OEM's use one key switch for all.
If you have the lock-out key on your machine and want the key to be ineffective, even when on, is to locate the rear of the switch and permanently solder the two connections together. This defeats the edit enable position.

The machine in question is a Toyoda FA800. It has the edit lock on the control panel. I was just wondering if there was a parameter that could be changed to lock all the programs. The problem is that everyone in our facility knows the parameters for the 8000,9000 programs and programs are being changed..
Mike, how is the .loc put into the control? Our files are usually .NC when they are loaded into the control but when they downloaded, there is no extension. I don't think the control looks at the extension when you upload it.
Al, If we were to permanently disable the edit function at the key, how do you edit or upload files. Would this option be more for a system running DNC?
thanx for the replies guy
