hi,

ive been perusing sites for the past week or so about kit/homebuilt machines. i am overwhelmed. so far the grunblau platform is looking the best to me. it says it can be built for under $4000. first question.....is this true. i just saw one on ebay with an asking price of $5500, and i think it was just all the parts for the kit. im looking for at least a 4' x 4' machine. for what im doing, the grunblau with a working area of 4' x 33" (i think thats the size) will work for me, even though id like something a little bigger. ive been googling but i cant seem to find a finish price from anyone whos built one. saying i do go this route, can i build it in about a weeks time? i will mainly be doing woodworking, occasional soft metals like aluminum, and polycarbonate or acrylic for templates. also, anyone thinking something else is better or cheaper, please let me know. im extremely new to cnc. mainly this will be used to carve guitar bodies, the size of the grunblau would let me fit 4 on the table at once.

any help is appreciated. i just dont want the project to end up costing more than i think it will. im quite resourceful and handy, i just cant seem to find much info so im now asking for help.

thanks so much!
