    Lag time on slaved stepper?

Here's the issue. One of my steppers on the X axis has a little lag time when moving. The X is made up of two motors on a R&P system. When I make movements one of them doesn't immediately move but when it does catch up everything is fine. Tuning isn't a problem...checked that. Is it possible to get backlash in a R&P system? Can I make a change in Mach? It seems like the response time is a hair off.

No Gerry. I just have started having issues so before I changed things too drastically I wanted to ask around. I didn't know if backlash was a product of the motor or something else. I don't have homing switches to square things up....will that change how I set up backlash compensation?

I have no idea, but that's the only thing I can think of that would cause a delay on one side.

Okay Gerry....I just checked things out. I tried the backlash compensation and that didn't do so well. I checked things out and found that the gear had not gotten tightened up so it was a mechanical thing.

I've still got an issue that I'm going to post in another thread.
