    X y axis inverted.

Hi, I'm a noob to the cnc world, but not to the cad and design world. My problem is that my MACH3 software is reading my x & y axis wrong, at least in the sense that I'm used to. And I for the life of me cannot get them to flip. I'm using aspire and AutoCAD as my design mediums. But when I input the toolpath into MACH3 it wants to run the x axis in the y direction and the y in the x. I've reconfigured my ports and pins so that they read and move, somewhat, in the correct direction, EXCEPT that when I have the machine zeroed at the lower left corner, it reads the x in a negative number and the y in a positive. Being since almost everything I design will be using the up and right directions add positive movements, this is causing me quite a bit of frustration. I certainly hope this makes sense. Thank you in advance.

Sounds like you have reversed the x direction in your ports and pins to get it going in the right direction instead of just swapping the wires of one coil of your x motor around.

Thank you for your response Jon. I did not physically switch any wires on the breakout board, I simply swapped the pins in tbdMACH3 program itself. Which has the machine going in the direction I want it to, EXCEPT tbd x axis still starts at zero and goes to the right as negative. Do I need to physically change the wiring?

No, you can change it in the software. Either go to Config/Homing Limits and change the "X" where it says "reversed" or go into Config/Ports and Pins/Motor Outputs and change the direction bit. Don't do both things, or you'll be back where you started...

If you are confident your wiring has not changed, I would generate a small program with a spot drill located at XYZ 0 then check precisely where the tool goes.
Next generate a 2nd spot location at X+ (whatever value you can reach), then a 3rd at Y+. If the machine goes where it is supposed to go in +, then your toolpath(s) you previously generated where set from a different origin.

To correct the origin it might just be a G command to enter in your post-processor.
Are you using the right one for your controller?

Awerby hit the nail on the head, I'm a bit ocd and have to have the settings as default so I would switch the motor wires At the driver. which wires did you swap at the Bob?

Thank you! Between you and Ron, I got it figured out. That was EXACTLY the problem. Thank ALL of you for answering! I'm sure I'll have more need of your combined expertise! On fact I DO have another question, but I'll start a new thread. Thanks again
