    Material Handling

    - I have a crane in my shop (2 Ton).

    - I have both a waterjet and a CNC plasma table.
    Waterjet Length/Width = 10' x 6'8"
    Plasma = 5' x 10'

    - I am looking to purchase a Vacuum Lifter ....
--our shop has (so far) worked primarily with steel.
---I have a need to lift up to 4' x 8' ... 1" thick steel plate onto the waterjet.
--- I would like to prepare for something that can exceed this need if required.
--- We have (2) local granite shops... so far we have cut a couple of slabs for them ... Will need to be able to lift slabs of granite as well.

-- The local granite shops have vacuum lifters .... that is the sum of my exposure to them.... these shops use the type that uses air to generate the vacuum...

-- I have a quote from Anver ..... for both an electric vacuum generator version ... and an air vacuum generator version...

-- I would really like to hear some feed-back from some that already are familiar with using this tech to handle material on to your waterjet...

    Re: Material Handling

We run a Swedish made Vacculex jib crane and it's awesome.

Our two main machines (Jet & Router) are virtually identical in size to yours and we managed to install the crane so it'll load both machines. All our work uses display grade substrates where
the odd scratch or scrape is absolutely NO good.

A vac crane alllows you to very accurately drop the substrate right were you need it and means there is no need to scrape your way along the machine bed just to get the sheet ready to cut.

Ours is a Swedish built bit of kit bought second hand- it's very sturdy, nicely engineered and uses a very reliable 3 phase vacuum motor. Although our 100kg weight limit is perfect for us it won't be for your needs. I guess a gigantic vac motor is all you need to lift the heavy weights you need to cope with- personally I'd go overboard on the motor spec so there is plenty of power
    in reserve.

Our crane lifts all types of metal & plastic along with timber stuff like fire doors and chunky plywood sheets. We don't do much stone work but we did a project with a load of 4" concrete slabs which craned easily.

For jet work the vac crane is ideal for dragging out parts which you've cut without squashing your fingers trying to parts out of a flat sheet manually.

Once you've got one you'll find your vac crane is absolutely essential in your workshop
