Hi,
I'm sure this is a stupid question but here goes. I am building a temporary control box out of wood. I realize that the G540 housing isn't grounded to a metal computer case. My question is does it need to be grounded? If so should I run a ground wire from one of the mounting screws to the house/earth ground or should I run a ground wire from one of the mounting screws to the ground on the power supply? I guess the power supply and the earth ground would be the same thing...

What you could do is set up a terminal plate of some kind to create a star point earth ground for all required earth GND connections, this would include the service earth ground conductor.
The other is to use a short DIN rail and use the yellow/green terminals that automatically connect all terminals together when mounted to the rail.
The case of the G540 should be grounded also.

The case of the G540 should be grounded to DC(-) already through the mounting screws on each G250XR3 inside. It never hurts to be double sure you ground everything, but that wire may not be necessary.

This is where the use of the same word for two descriptions can cause confusion.
'Ground' unfortunately is used for both P.S. Common as well as Earth ground.
It is also very usual in schematics etc to see the Earth symbol used for P.S. common instead of the correct symbol.
I prefer to ensure all metallic enclosures are Earth grounded.

Correct , the fact is he needs to add a Ground wire regardless, as he is using a wooden control box which is not a good idea but is what he has to start with

The Gecko G540 controller box has Nonconductive coatings to prevent grounding or any continuity. So adding a grounded wire to Box will not work as grounding the controller.
