    d.c servo drivers options

    hello cnczone
i have a few questions regaurding d.c servo drive boards .
    1) would i be best off using gecko servo drives say gecko 340's , now do i need the g rex 101 with those drives?
    2) what else is within reach price wise for a hobby cnc machines, for d.c servo drive boards .
    3) is there any complete servo/drive/power supply kits that are around $700 for 3 axis ?

sorry for all the questions im trying to do whats best for my machine and my budget .
i had my plans set to use stepper motors but i have changed my mind to go with servo's . only problem is ive been reading on how to use steppers , so servos are a whole new ball game for me .

thanks for any info ! i just need some drives and motors then i can start to build :rainfro:.
    thanks again
    cheers

    Hi,
Servos are great. Now to answer your direct questions.

    1. I use gecko's and am real happy. No, there is no G100. If you PROPERLY spec your encoders, you can stay with the 320's. I feed my from the parallel port through a breakout board.
    2. In Canada, I would look at the Larken drives. Searching the Zone, there are a few others that deserve attention, but I am hesitant to recommend due to shipping charges (at least to the states).
    3. I personally am not familiar with any, but that does not mean they are not available.

Before you decide on drives you need to decide what servos you are going to use. Then selct drives based on current and volts outputs to suit your servos.
