    Data server question

Is it possble to edit a program in a fanuc data server?

Because of program size we are drip feeding a program from a data server into the machine's control. Everything is great untill we have to edit or search through a program. The time it takes to search through a program that is running off a data server is too long (similar to searching while the machine is in memory mode). Normal if we are using the cnc to store the program we can just search in edit mode which is alot faster.

If we could search or edit in the data server, speed would not be an issue

Machine is a Makino with a Fanuc 16MB control.
    Program length is about 2Mg

you cannot edit information on a dataserver... that's a limitation to that type of technology. is it a large contouring program or just a large program with a lot of operations? could you split everything into subprograms?

    Yes and Yes

Every part is one off and presently our programming automation will not put anything is sub programs.

    Thanks for your input, Noel
