Hello everyone. I've been lurking the forums for a little now, and am about 1/2 way done the construction of my first table.
I'm planning on learning the hard way, and am sure there will be some design flaws along the way.
The main construction of the frame is 2" x 2 1/2" angle iron. Mounted underneath are two 55" vbx 20mm rails. The main gantry is contructed from 3/4" pvc.
I realized my first flaw this weekend after assembling some components. The Y axis has alot of flex in it. The unsupported 20mm rods can't handle the span.
So those are on the way out, and will be replaced with another set of supported 20mm rails.
Overall travel will be 49 x 44 x 8
movement will by by 425oz steppers, and 1/2"-10 2 start acme rod.
Let me know your thoughts!
