M2 Steel & an Endmill Question

Two things were told to me today which i didnt believe and i wanted too see who was correct.

    1. I ordered a M2 hss lathe tool blank from mcmaster. The shop tech said that it could not be ground and it could only be EDMed. I couldve sworn i have successfully ground these several times before. Can you grind M2 tool steel on a non-diamond wheel?

    2. are endmills case hardened?

    1. yes they can be ground quite easily.

    2. not sure but it would make sense. Hard cutting edge and ductile core.
