I noticed a growl in my spindle the other day. Thinking it may be time for new spindle bearings. The machine is a Bridgeport 760/22 VMC. Anyone attempted changing their own bearings? How bad is it?

This spindle is a cartridge that can drop out as an assembly.
The original was assembled in a clean room (I saw them built), and trust me, spindle building is a science.
I recommend that you send it to a good spindle rebuilder.
