    motor tuning problem

I'm trying to use the auto settting to determine the correct amount of steps on each axis. However, each time I'm off by a few thousandths and try to get closer, mach three comes up with some out of this world umber of steps to change it to tho get to the target number. I'm using cnc masters mill, so i'm nort sure exactly what the leads are on the screws, I'm thinking they are 10mm. I'm also using gecko 201's which are rated at 10 and the motors i'm sure are 200 steps per rev. I'm not sure how to calculate it so i've place ana rbitray number in for the steps. When i use 10400 it's real close, but everytimei try to get closer, mach comes up with some outrageous number to change it to.

I did check the native settings and changed it to inches, but it didn't seem to change anything
    Please help

    Hi m8kingit,

Once you set the native units you should not change it unless you want to alter the complete set up of the machine. Pick either in or mm and stick with it

    Auto setting -
1st - jog away in the negative direction as far as you can.
2nd - Go to settings page
3rd - Click on the set steps per unit located above the reset button
4th - Select the axis that you wish to calibrate
5th - Enter the amount you wish to move with out using a negative sign and press enter. Note, the machine will move. A small value of movement should be done first.
6th - enter how much the machine actually moved then press enter.
7th - Allow new value and press enter

    Reboot software - VERY Important

repeat the above using a larger travel value. The larger the travel, the closer you will get

    Happy chip making

Thanks, I was following your steps, with the exception of the reboot, I wasn't aware of that
