Hello everyone I have recently tried out CentreCam and while it works pretty well its terribly clumsy...
I have a 5mp webcam that does 720p video and with some old camera optics focuses very clearly.
I want to be able to toss something I am trying to make an adapter plate for on the table with my Starrett ruler be able to press calibrate select the ends of the ruler and say this is 4". Then be able to goto the part and click on edges, bolt holes, etc and easily take measurements.
I usually do all my layout by hand but on tiny complicated parts its far to time consuming. I had an idea and ran a picture of a nema17 motor through photoshop to do edge detection and clarification and turned it into a greyscale image so all the edges where very clearly defined. I then scaled the image to match the ruler and used photoshops drag & drop rule lines to figure out placement. It would be awesome to find some software that would let you hover over something in the cam feed and it just knows its features dimentions!
Anybody know of this kind of software besides CenterCam?
