    80 VDC, 15 AMP, Powersupply

I am a newbie and I need help building/finding a power supply capable of 80 to 90 VDC and upto 20 amps. I looked around on here and found a couple of tidbits on the subject, but I am still not clear. Does anybody have any info that will help me understand this?

    Thanks for the help!

The hardest part my be finding a 1.5 ~1.8kva transformer.
There was a guy on ebay that made them up toroidal's to order, Antek, but he does not seem to show up in a search.
If you can find the transformer, the rest is easy and there are plenty of previous links here to building your own.

What did of transformer should I be looking for? I am an HVAC guy so traditional transformers are all I know. I don't know anything about a toroidal.

Laminated or toroidal will work, it is just that toroidal are easy to modify by adding or reducing windings if necessary or adding an auxiliary winding on for low voltage source etc.
If you google DC power supplies and toroidal transformer it should bring up plenty.
I see that Antek has a web site now, so it may be worth an email to check on what he can do for you.

BTW for 80vdc you will need 56acv secondary and 63vac for 90vdc.
    So 1.5kva will be fine.
