    control locks up

I have an early model EZPATH lathe. after homing the machine at startup, then hitting the #1 key to change tool and offset and then changing to the right tool. bring it up to touch off the tool I hit the "F2" key to bring up the offset page the control locks up I can not see anything in the offset page it just stays blank but I can still move the carriage by turning the handles but I can't put in any offsets.

I'm also wondering if i can put in a newer mother board the current is 486

Did you try and reload the software?

    Hi,

It was a long time ago when I was operating two of these machines and they would regularly lock up when going from the graphical simulation and back into run mode.

The error on screen was a typical of a mathematical error. Cannot remember the exact error but basically I believe it was down to the PC motherboard having a CYRIX 486 CPU.

Back eons ago when 486 PC's were the norm, CYRIX chips had a reputation for bad handling of Floating Point calculations.

I believe swapping the CYRIX for an INTEL flavour CPU could well help you out.

    Regards,

    Rich.
