Hi,

I've only just wrapped my head around stepper motors, but I think my next job requires a servo and controller. Here's the deal:

I have a woodworking machine that can be adjusted by manually turning a handle. 45 turns from minimum to maximum. The turning is light, the only thing holding me back from turning the axle between my fingers is the excentric weight of the handle! Now I would like to accurately automate this function. Hence, throw away handle, fit servo motor. I have a PLC controlling many other items in the workshop, which can send out a 0-10V or 4-20mA signal. Basiccaly, I need a servo motor, controller, powersource and angle gear reductor to get this to work. But which motor/controller?

The original manufacturer has got a retro-fit kit, with a 1/3ph motor, for 9000 US$. OK...

Please feel free to ask if this info is not enough,
Best regards,

Hugo
