    Solidworks line weights in sketch

hi all, just installed solidworks 2008. When I select "shaded with edges" the edges are very thick lines, also when in sketch mode the lines of very thick too. Tried adjusting line weight settings but this doesnt do anything, I believe its just for setting the line weight for printing??? Had a similar problem with the arrows whilst in sketch also but managed to fix this in the dimensions property window...somehow, not quite sure how!

Has anybody come across this before, is there a option buried somewhere that will make the lines thinner. I have 2008 installed on another machine and all is fine. Could it be a hardware thing?

    In the same boat

Got the same problem as you, 2008 worked fine on the Toshiba laptop till coffee killed it, now on an HP and its thick lines and oval circles. got the circles round by playing with screen resolutions but not fixed the fat lines yet.btw you really dont want to be in the same boat, am in the marina all snugged up and being bounced about like a cork, makes for hard typing lol.
if I find the answer will post ASAP

hi, thanks for the reply....floating design office sounds cool.

I think my problem may be with the monitor and/or driver, its a strange shape, its on a comp we dont use much so not a major problem as of yet.

Be interesting to know if you solve the problem

    Good luck

    Hi again
this worked for me re fat lines,
    open SW goto TOOLS/ OPTIONS/DISPLAY,SELECTION.
    uncheck anti-alias edges/sketches.
also did a colour thing to make it look like 2004 coz I like it lol, was so pleased I cracked open a bottle of malt and had a taste or two, hope it works for you, let me know if it does, rather fancy a good reason to uncork the Auchentauchen again
